If you want a simple answer to a simple question, No [unless there are FTAs associated with any of them]; if you want an encyclical on all permutations and combinations of things asked and not asked, see Hache's comments.

I have not heard of anyone going to jail on speeding tickets alone. Jail is not possible for infraction convictions. If they are misdemeanor violations (ie. violations of Vehicle Code 23109 exhibitions of speed, or reckless driving VC 23103),, then it is possible to go to jail for misdemeanor convictions. If they are only infraction convictions, although jail is not an immediate issue, it could lead to it. For example, if you accrue to many DMV points in a short period (ie. 4 points in 12 months for example), then your license can be suspended. If your license is suspended and you get pulled over for speeding, not only are you looking at another potential speeding violation, but also a violation of VC 14601.1, which can be prosecuted as a misdemeanor, which could lead to jail time (as well as 2 DMV points and other penalties). In short, hire an attorney to fight your tickets. It can save you a lot of heartache at the end of the day, potentially save you from heavy fines and increased insurance costs, and maybe from a suspended driviers license and jail down the road. I handle a lot of traffic tickets, speeding tickets, disobeying signs and signals, red light camera violations, etc. Although no attorney can make guarantees, I can not remember the last time my client ended up with a DMV point based on a ticket I was handling with them. Last week alone I got 3 tickets with multiple charges dismissed saving my clients a total of apx. $4,500 in fees, not including the savings in insurance costs for the next few years, and more importantly, avoiding all DMV points.
