My boyfriend is in jail and feels he was sentence wrong, what are the steps to finding out if he was sentence wrong?

Why does he think he was wrongly sentenced? Was it following trial or guilty plea? Is it outside of the plea agreement, or too harsh following trial? The beginning point is founding out why he things it is wrong and then inquiring of his attorney.

Last year I pled guilty to disturbing the peace as an infraction. I know an infraction is not a real big thing to have on my record, but I would like to have it taken off if I can. Can infractions be expunged or only misdemeanors or felonies?
